When I was younger, I thought 50 years old was so old! I could not even imagine how I would look or how I would feel when I turned 50.

I’m going to be 50 this October, and I have to say that it’s not bad at all!

I understand things about life more than ever and I understand myself more than ever.

I am enjoying things more than when I was younger because I know that time is not forever.

I appreciate the small things more.

So when I hear young people let’s say in their 20’s, “Oh, I’m old.”
I say, “You’re not old. Enjoy the moment!”

Really, it is all relative.

A number is just number.
Age is just a number.

Listen to your body and if you feel young, you’re still young.
If you feel old, DO SOMETHING THAT MAKES YOU FEEL YOUNG!

Life is so much more fun and better when we focus on the good part of it.

So I stopped saying, “I’m too old,” because when I say “too old”, I feel the negative energy. I feel that I’m telling myself, “I’m old. I’m old.” The more I say it, the more my body feels it.

I truly think everybody should appreciate their age, whatever it is because age is just a number.

I want people to start shifting their focus away from the number of candles on their cake, and instead realize that LIVING is most important. Having EXPERIENCES is most important.

Treat life like a cake, your cherished memories and experiences are your candles. I want you to have so many candles you light up like a star!

LIVE YOUR LIFE, FORGET YOUR AGE.

I truly believe that our life is the accumulation of small decisions we make every single day.

This shapes us.

Small decisions, even things that you don’t really think much of, affect your life.

When you are so fully aware that these small decisions have made you who you are, both mentally and the physically, you will start taking decision-making more seriously.

Sometimes decision-making can be a very stressful or trigger a sense of doubt.

Most people are familiar with the left brain approach to decisions, like a pro’s and con’s list or something similar.

For me, making choices is a more physical process.

When it comes to making decisions if you are using also including the body, along with your mind, you are being completely TRUE TO YOURSELF and IN TUNE with your whole-self. It is a more balanced decision.

I call this practice MUSCLE TESTING

It’s so easy, and the BEST PART is that you end up with a WHOLE-HEARTED answer which you don’t have to second guess!

*Sigh* What a relief!

A good friend, and one of the happiest people I know gave me the best advice. She said , “we are all here for visit, might as well enjoy it!”

This stopped me mid-thought!
How simple and true and what a great way to look beyond the stress of a day! My reactions to everything had shifted right then and there.

We are the keepers of our own happiness.
Do not let events affect your internal glow and happiness.
Hold on to your positivity and the child inside with everything you’ve got!

Do your best to tune-in and catch yourself before you spiral down a not so pleasant path.
How we present and feel each situation affects us greatly.
Depending on how we see a situation, how we receive it, how we perceive it, this changes our energy.

By finding the silver linings, you will SUPERCHARGE YOUR LIFE WITH POSITIVITY!

Energy affects our body.
If you want be a person who attracts other people and makes them feel so happy and light and expand- START WITH YOUR OWN HAPPINESS –
Don’t just be the light, be the LIGHTHOUSE.

Start by training your mind to see the positive and the joy that is in abundance around us.
Once you open your mind to the bright side, serendipity will take the wheel.
People will open up to you. Stability will present itself. Worry will fade.

Coming up to 50 years old, people often ask me how I get my energy. Today is the lucky day!

While I do a lot of physical activities to keep my body feeling good and youthful like yoga, swimming and walking, nothing makes me feel like a kid as much as my rebounder trampoline!

I originally got this little tool for Nina, but I quickly fell in love with it. Something about carelessly jumping over and over makes me feel so free and young! I love it!

Just a minute or two on the trampoline and POW! I get my energy and I feel so much more fun bubbling inside me!

When I start feeling that energy in my body my brain also gets clear and I feel like I can do anything!

I encourage you to find something that sparks this JOY inside of you, too. It doesn’t have to be anything complicated or fancy. Take a moment to remember the last time you felt ageless and so happy. What were you doing? Re-create it!

Maybe it isn’t an action that overwhelms you with joy, but a scent that reminds you of a childhood memory. See if you can replicate it and make it into a perfume roller.

You have the power to create your own happiness and be truly happy. We all need a little more reason to act like a kid!

Why I’m Selfish And You Should Be Too | Face Yoga Method

So I found a little bit of time to myself while I was sitting in my car waiting for my daughter to finish her gymnastics class. It’s a time just for myself and I love it!

I remember how I used to feel SO guilty if I wanted to take time for myself or do something for just me.
It’s a strange feeling I felt after having my daughter, Nina I felt like I always had to do things for my family first. Then if I had EXTRA time, then I can use that time for myself.

But as you know, if you’re a mother, taking care of a little one you never actually find free time. There are always things to do. On top of that, I work from home, so that kind of makes it more challenging since there is no separation between work and my personal life unless I really, really put an effort in trying to separate them.

I struggled quite a lot with the feeling of guilt.

I still remember the first time I went traveling without my family. I had 4 days scheduled on business and then 6 days with my mother and sisters-in-law in Montana.
Even though I had the support of my family to go, I wasn’t allowing myself the luxury of accepting this (much needed) me time.

One of my sisters told me that “It’s so important for a father to have special time with his daughter” and this really helped me see it as something for my daughter and husband too. I literally had to make the trip into something for my family instead of me to allow it to feel comfortable. I had to be giving something.
So I went. But you know what I did first?

I cooked!
I made ten day’s worth of breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the entire time I was gone.
I even made a schedule, a kind of menu, and I left instructions on how to prepare them all.
I put everything, the name and the date, and I put in a container stored in the fridge and some of them in the freezer. I told my husband, “Okay this is a list, this is a menu, you’ll be okay.”
(In hindsight, what I was truly saying was “Ok, Fumiko, YOU are going to be ok. Your FAMILY is going to be ok.”)

I was stressed out, and some people may think what I did was crazy, but I needed to do it for myself.

Something unexpected happened when I got back.

I was a better person! I felt so rested and refreshed and this made me more patient and understanding at home.
I was more relaxed, I was nicer to my husband, I was nicer to my daughter, Nina.
I took a moment and thought to myself, wow, this is how a family should feel.
That experience changed me for the better, and I learned how vital self-care and me-time truly are. We have to fill our own cup before we can give from it.

Do the Work or Succumb to Gravity | Face Yoga Method

I think it’s a time for us to start thinking about what we CAN do daily if we want to make a face much younger and healthier. No time like the present!

I noticed that when we pay attention to the face muscles, we can do so much more and we can prevent so many things when it comes to muscles of face vs. gravity.

I know that we need gravity to live on this Earth as we do – but did you know that gravity is secretly causing your body to age faster?
When it comes to the face, gravity is constantly pulling everything down. Even at this moment!

For most of my life, I took the collagen and elasticity of my face for granted. But as I was playing with Nina the other day on or trampoline, I realized that gravity is tugging at our faces constantly. I also noticed, if I just activate my facial muscles, it counteracts gravity! SIMPLE FIX!

It is so important that we practice Face Yoga Method every day, even if it’s just a few minutes so that we can put up the daily fight against gravity, just as it is putting up a fight against our skin.

What To Do When You Lose Motivation | Face Yoga Method

People often ask me if I ever get tired, or feel sluggish and lazy and don’t want to do anything. As a business owner, employer, wife, mother, and friend, my answer is, yes of course, I get that feeling!

But I also know how I can deal with it. The first thing I do is I just listen to my body.
I ask, is it because I’m physically tired? Sometimes I work so hard on a project and I don’t have enough sleep. Or maybe I have just traveled and didn’t eat well enough or get nutritious food, and my body needs recovery time.

What picks me up the most, is moving my body! Every day I get up and do something physically active.
This makes me feel good and also works out any psychological blockages. When we move our body we release endorphins and get oxygen pumping through our organs and everything begins to work better.

So when you are feeling sluggish, get up and move! Go for a walk around the block, take your child to the park and play with them, walk your dog – you will get energy!

I strongly believe that all of us are so much more capable than we think and we are just putting limitations on ourselves and using the best excuses we can come up with not to change.

We make excuses so that we don’t have to feel so bad about not doing what we really need to do for OURSELVES. We have this negative conversation in our head that feels comforting: “I can’t do this because…”

I get the comment a lot saying, “oh you are so lucky you are Japanese, you were born with great skin” and “because you’re Asian you don’t age.”

This is not true. I age just like everyone, and I also had to face major changes to my face after my accident, that many women will luckily never have to experience. I CHOSE to make positive changes in my lifestyle and health to make my dreams come true.

I think one big thing that really makes me glow, is that I just listen to my heart.
When we listen to our heart, the universe listens to us. The narrative shifts and change comes.
